You will explore the Archbishops’ Palace (17th–18th centuries), stroll through the French-style garden, and enjoy beautiful views of the palace’s façade and Saint-Gatien Cathedral, built between the 12th and 16th centuries, which showcases the evolution of the Gothic style (stop and general tour). Then you will walk along Rue Colbert, with its half-timbered facades, toward the district known as “Vieux Tours,” which has become one of the city’s liveliest areas with narrow, often pedestrian-only streets lined with numerous half-timbered houses, mostly dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.
Stop at the Saint-Julien Abbey Church with its 11th-century bell tower.
You will reach the famous Place Plumereau, which features a beautiful collection of half-timbered houses; stroll through the picturesque medieval streets where you will find numerous shops and stalls offering a rich variety of crafts; and admire the Saint-Pierre-le-Puellier Garden (Gallo-Roman ruins) with its stair towers, including the Charlemagne Tower. You will conclude your tour at the Basilica of Saint-Martin, a beautiful 19th-century building, whose crypt houses the tomb of Saint Martin.
